Chelsea To FINALLY Sign Antoine Griezmann? Luis Filipe Could Be Used As A Bait

Chelsea’s Brazilian left-back, Filipe Luis is set to make a return to former club Atletico Madrid, as per Daily Mail. The report says Jose Mourinho wants to seal a deal for Augsburg’s Baba Rahman as the left-back’s replacement.

Luis, 29, left Atletico Madrid after the 2013-14 season, in which they won the La Liga title and also reached the UEFA Champions League final.

His starring role, however, prompted a move to Chelsea but it has not worked out fine so far. Cesar Azpilicueta’s impressive performance at the left-back position limited Luis to only 15 league appearances, completing 90 minutes of footballing action just 7 times last term.

Reports have however suggested that Luis would only prefer to return to Atletico, with boss Diego Simeone also keen on a reunion.

Gulherme Siqueira who was brought in as a replacement for Luis has been inconsistent so far, so Simeone would welcome the move.

Respected Italian journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio chipped in with reports on Wednesday that the two clubs have already begun negotiations over the deal, as per Daily Star.

Diego Simeone  also spoke about the purported move. “He’s a player we’re very fond of and he knows us well and gave so much to the team. I hope this one comes off”, the manager said of Luis’ possible return.

Atletico’s midfielder, Koke also revealed his wish for Luis to rejoin the club, saying the defender is “no traitor”.

“Filipe decided to leave and now he has the chance to return. If he arrives, there’ll be more competition and that’s good”, he told Marca (via Daily Star).

Chelsea will have want to use Luis’ sale to Atletico as a bait to sign the La Liga club’s talented winger, Antoine Griezmann.

The 24-year old shone in his first season with the Basque outfit scoring 22 goals in 37 appearances after joining from Real Sociedad.

Atletico are thought to be preparing for the inevitable departure of the Frenchman with probable replacements for the Frenchman – Luciano Vietto, Ferreira-Carrasco and Jackson Martinez – already brought in by the club.

The Blues will now be hoping to persuade the Rojiblancos into selling Griezmann, which might involve a Luis-plus-cash deal.

Pedro Rodriguez is, however, another winger who excites Blues boss, Jose Mourinho.
