CONFIRMED – Manchester United On The VERGE OF Signing £25m Star

The Red Devils’ summer business seems to be panning out rather successfully so far, with Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Scheiderlin arriving to help the club in a bid to win the Premier League title next term.

However, Man United boss Louis van Gaal is still hungry for “at least” two additions to the squad, with the striking and defence area being the likely department the two signings will be arriving to fill.

Meanwhile, the imminent departure of first-choice goalie David De Gea this summer may make the signings three. The Spanish shot-stopper has been heavily linked to Real Madrid, but the two clubs are haggling over a fee.

The transfer has now reached something of a deadlock with the Old Trafford outfit resigned to losing De Gea this summer or next, they will only let him join Madrid if they are getting Ramos too in the deal.

Van Gaal has since been looking for options to replace De Gea between the sticks and yesterday, reports had it that Argentina goalkeeper, Sergio Romero is set for a medical at the club ahead of a move. The free-agent appears like he would not be the first choice at the club hence, United have moved for Ajax Amsterdam safe hands, Jasper Cillesen.

Meanwhile, Ajax boss Frank De Boer has admitted he would be powerless to stop the goaltender from making a switch to United.

He told Sky Sports: “We want to keep him and he wants to stay but, if Manchester United come with a bag of money, it can be difficult.”

The Netherlands international has agreed terms with Manchester United regarding a potential summer move, according to reports. He is understood to be van Gaal’s replacement for De Gea.

Cillessen was, as per the Metro, United’s top target and now it is thought he has agreed terms to join. The report says the 26-year old would arrive once De Gea’s purported exit is completed – whether this summer or not.

Should Cillessen put pen to paper on a deal with the Red Devils, De Gea’s sale to Real Madrid will certainly be sanctioned. Cillessen seems, to me, the ideal fit to replace De Gea.

Manchester United kick off their Premier League season with a home match against Tottenham on August 8, and will hope the goalkeeper crisis is solved before then.
