Man United To ANNOUNCE SIXTH Summer Signing, Player To Fly In For Medical

So far, of all their Premier League title rivals, the Red Devils’ summer business can be termed as the successful and carefully-done, with Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Scheiderlin arriving to help return the club’s lost glory.

Having signed Sergio Romero only yesterday, another goalies’s capture is imminent with the report that Manchester United have sealed a deal for the transfer of Dutchman Jasper Cillessen from Ajax Amsterdam and are only waiting to announce it.

That is according to Metro who understands United have sorted out personal terms with the Ajax shot stopper a week ago, as he is seen as the ideal candidate to replace Madrid-bound David De Gea.

De Gea has been the subject of a strong interest from Real Madrid after turning down a £200,000 a week package from the Old Trafford outfit. But the move have been something of an impasse so far.

Spanish publication, El Confidential also backed Metro’s claim saying the transfer has already been agreed with Cillessen having said goodbye to his team mates at the Amsterdam-based outfit.

United announced the capture of free agent Sergio Romero yesterday, although the Argentina goalkeeper is expected to be Victor Valdes’ replacement and not De Gea’s. Romero joined United on a three-year deal with an option for a fourth after leaving Sampdoria at the end of his contract last season. The move means a reunion with his former boss whom he played under at AZ Alkmaar.

Valdes is the Red Devils’ second choice goalie having also signed as a free agent in January. However, the former Barcelona icon have fallen out with Louis van Gaal after the Dutch manager accused him of lacking respect and not following the club’s philosophy.

He is now certain to leave Old Trafford, with Valencia and a couple of Turkish clubs looking to sign him.

Ajax tactician Frank De Boer had admitted he would be powerless to stop the goaltender from making a switch to United. He told Sky Sports: “We want to keep him and he wants to stay but, if Manchester United come with a bag of money, it can be difficult.”

The Netherlands international has agreed terms with Manchester United regarding a potential summer move, according to reports. He is understood to be van Gaal’s replacement for De Gea.

Cillessen was, as per the Metro, United’s top target and now it is thought he has agreed terms to join.
