Chelsea Set To ANNOUNCE New Signing On Monday, He Will Earn £65,000-A-Week

Premier League defending champions Chelsea are reportedly closing in on the signing of Augsburg defender Abdul Baba Rahman. The Ghanaian defender has reportedly agreed terms with Chelsea ahead of his proposed 17.5 million pounds move to Stamford Bridge. However Chelsea are still yet to agree a deal with Augsburg and will be hoping that negotiations are finalised soon.

In a recent interview Baba Rahman’s agent was quoted as saying “It is only the clubs that have to find an agreement,”We on our side are agreed”. Rahman is said to be Jose Mourinho first choice left-back to replace Brazillian defender Filipe Luis who rejoined his former team Atletico Madrid after a disappointing debut season at Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho was reported to be interested in other full-backs like Alex Telles and Danny Rose but the Portuguese boss later settled for Baba Rahman. The 21 year old was a key member of the Augsburg team that finished 5th last season.

Rahman featured 31 times for Augsburg and registered more tackles than any other player in the Bundesliga last season. Chelsea will be hoping to wrap up negotiations for the Ghanaian as quickly as possible so Rahman can join the squad on time. The longer the negotiations drag, the more threat it poses for the Chelsea team. Pre-season matches and trainings help new signings gel with their new team-mates ahead of the new season.

A player like Baba Rahman who is coming from a another league will really need the time and preparation to adapt to a whole different league and with the transfer delaying, it could affect the 21 year old’s debut season. Hence Chelsea should ensure that the deal is concluded soon so Baba Rahman can get adequate preparation and training on time.
