The Boss Confirms Bid Is Made For £30m POWERFUL CB – Terry Replacement?

Despite several mouth-watering offers by the Premier League defending Champions, Everton’s resolve to keep their tough-tackling and tenacious defender could not be broken and the Toffees midfielder James McCarthy has eulogised Everton following their resilience in the transfer window that has kept Stones in the club, as per the Mirror.

Stones, 21, was the subject of the one of the biggest and long drawn transfer sagas in the world – Chelsea had up to three bids for the player thrown out by Everton and they kept at trying to sign the player until the last day of the transfer market. However, all efforts to purchase the defender failed and Stones has since impressed against the Blues on September 12th.

Stones team mate James McCarthy believes Everton’s decision to keep the defender was right as the player is proving vital to their campaign.

He said: “From day one, the chairman and gaffer said that John wasn’t for sale and that remained the case even though Chelsea kept coming back with bids.

“It just shows we want to build and we want to do well – it’s a measure of the ambition here at Everton. The manager, the chairman, the whole club made a big statement in the summer by keeping everyone together. And this could be a really big season for us.”

As usual, the Toffees have started the season poorly, winning twice, drawing three matches and losing once and they will face West Brom, who are yet to concede in their last three matches, this night.

Stones, won 27 tackles in the League for Everton last season, and has so far won six caps for England since making his debut in May 2014.
