Last straw for LVG as manager will resign today after Chelsea match; Twitter applauds

Let’s assume that a person went to a coma after Sir Alex had retired as the Manchester United Coach. What might happen to that person if he wakes up from the coma and hears that his beloved team has lost four matches in a row? Most probably, that person will once again to a coma! Jokes apart, Manchester United fans hardly had to face such a situation. They were the fans who used to see their team dominate the teams like Stoke City. After last week’s loss against Norwich, the manager Louis Van Gaal was under immense pressure as his position as the Manchester United manager was being question. Well, by losing to Stoke City, the critics have gotten some new weapons to criticize the United boss.

After that 2-1 defeat, the fans hoped that Manchester United will bounce back in the next game for their sake. But they got nothing but disappointed. The misery started when Memphis made a blunder which led to the first stoke goal. Glen Johnson found some space inside the box after Memphis’s blunder and played an accurate pass to Bojan, who didn’t make any mistake to fire the ball inside the net. Arnautovic then fired a free kick home at the 26th minute. Stoke didn’t play like they were the underdog in this match. With the crowd behind them, they started showing good signs from the third minute when Shaqiri fired a deadly cross. United did put pressure on Stoke defense as Butland had to save a low shot from Herrera. After conceding the goals, Manchester United tried their best to pull off a comeback. But once again their finishing let the team down. LVG decided to bench Rooney; most probably his poor performances have started to annoy the manager at last. The Englishmen replaced Memphis in the second half, but failed to put any significant impact.

Last reports suggest LVG will resign after today’s match no matter the result. Fans on Twitter are already speculating over the new manager:

Manchester United didn’t look like they will have a break at the Stoke goal; rather they came close to conceding a third one in 72nd and 80th minute. Ashley Young and De Gea were the saviors. Otherwise the humiliation would have been a lot bigger.
