Aubameyang has Missed Training 2 Days in a Row at Borussia Dortmund, Moving to England in a £42m Deal

Arsenal is reportedly finalising the deal for Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel, but what Gunners really need is a striker. In the recent seasons, defence and midfield hasn’t been much of a problem as compared to the attacking force. Often times, Arsenal has failed to score goals at crucial times because of which major points have been dropped. Investing in a striker in the current transfer window would be a wise decision for the Gunners.Borussia Dortmund’s striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has been linked with a move to the Emirates and the striker seems a perfect fit for the London club. Arsene Wenger has neither denied or confirmed any related reports but according to Metro, the Frenchman is willing to pay a fee of £42m to sign him.

The striker’s technique, pace and control are exactly what the Gunners are missing from their attacking form. Although Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott have been influential this season, there is no denying that Arsenal requires a more reliable goal-scoring source.

In the 22 games Aubameyang has started for Dortmund, he has scored 24 goals and made 5 assists. Although he has about 50% accuracy from the total shots he has made, the goal turn-out per game is impressive.

With a height of 6’ 1”, Aubameyang can be a great asset when it comes to set-pieces and corners. His height can boost Arsenal’s chances of scoring through headers, and tactically too his aerial ability is a plus. Giroud stands at a height of 6’3” but his lack of aggressive aerial tactics, can be balanced out with the arrival of Aubameyang.

The Dortmund striker also possesses impressive free-kick skills, which can provide Arsenal versatility when it comes to set-pieces. This would also reduce some pressure on Ozil providing him opportunities for a freer role on the pitch.

Aubameyang’s partnership with Marco Reus is a clear proof that the striker would have no difficulties coordinating with Mesut Ozil and his pace would enable Alexis Sanchez to add greater pace to Arsenal’s attack.

According to The Independent, the 26 year old was missing from Dortmund first training session after winter break.

Speculations have increased that the striker would leave the Bundesliga club in the on-going transfer window. He has been rumoured to be moving to Liverpool, Manchester United or Arsenal but the latter seems to be the likelier choice for the striker.
