Valdes to Leave Manchester United

Done Deal: Man Utd Complete Transfer, Medical Passed, Superstar to Start Training With New Team-mates This Week

Victor Valdes is finally ready to depart Manchester United by completing a loan move to Belgian club Standard Liege.

The Spaniard has had the worst phase of his career at Old Trafford by managing to play 107 minutes of football for United after a spectacular fall-out with Louis van Gaal and has now been offered an escape route from Manchester United “hell”.

The goalkeeper posted a farewell message to his United “family” today (Thursday), seemingly calling an end to an unhappy 12 months at Old Trafford.

United No. 1 goalkeeper, David De Gea took toTwitter to wish his fellow goalkeeper (team-mate) and compatriot luck ahead of his loan move.

Meanwhile, according to Belgian outlet La Derniere Heure: Valdes’ loan move to Liege will be confirmed imminently.

The former Spain and Barcelona goalkeeper signed an 18-month contract with the Old Trafford outfit in January 2015 and was set to back-up David De Gea as United’s second best goalkeeper.

However, the goalkeeper was sideline and marginalized for the entire 2015-16 campaign, after manager Louis van Gaal confirmed that there was no place for the 34-year-old in his squad after he had refused to play for the reserves.

So when Standard Liege came calling, he saw it as an opportunity to escape his miserable time at Old Trafford.
Valdes’ loan move comes after it has been reported that United are eyeing a move for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who could serve as De Gea’s No. 2. Besides, Sergio Romero is also available as an adequate back-up in United’s goalkeeping department.
