Debuchy Leaving Arsenal

Arsenal Defender Reveals Transfer Drama: “I went to see Wenger and it took 30 minutes to Finish the Transfer”

Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy signed for Ligue 1 club Bordeaux on a loan deal on the transfer deadline day. The France international was linked to several clubs, but he has revealed that he was very close to staying at Emirates Stadium for the rest of the season.

The Gunners also rejected Man Utd’s approach to signing the 30-year old on a loan deal yesterday.

However, Debuchy reveals that once he came to know about Bordeaux’s interest in his services, everything was wrapped up within 30 minutes.

It all happened very quickly,” the right-back told French media on Tuesday. “When I got up on Monday morning, I didn’t think I was leaving anymore because a lot of doors were shut on me.

“I went to see the coach (Wenger) one last time, I showed him Bordeaux’s offer and after that, it was all taken care of in half an hour.”

Debuchy has made only two league appearances for the Gunners this season and was in search for regular gaming time ahead of the summer’s European Championships.
