Liverpool to Sign Borussia Star

Lazar Markovic arrived at Liverpool amid high expectations in a £20 million move from Benfica in 2014. His debut season at Anfield was a far from a success, and he score only two goals in 19 appearances for the Reds.

However, in a strange move, he was shipped off to Turkish club Fenerbahce in a loan move just after one season with the Merseysiders.

At the time, the decision to send the 21-year old on a loan move raised many eyebrows. The Serbian international has now openly talked about the circumstances leading to his move

He told Turkish publication, Fanatik: “I had no problem with Brendan Rodgers, and we had a bond until, for some reason that remains a mystery to me, he changed.”

“He stopped playing me and then at the start of the season he didn’t even include me in the squad, and nobody explained to me what was going on or what his plans were, so I decided to leave.”
