Big shock at Chelsea as midfielder rejects £5.7m deal despite contract expiring in 2017

Despite helping Leicester City win the Premier League by beating Tottenham Hotspur last night, Chelsea have had an awful season by their standards. They won the trophy last season, strolling home in the final stages after securing enough points before the final day.

This season, Chelsea have been a far cry from that title winning team and Jose Mourinho was fired after apparently losing the dressing room.

Italian boss, Antonio Conte, will be coming in next season to attempt to breathe life in to the club, and with him, the fans expect a whole lot of changes in personnel. The fans are still upset about the form of some players early on in the season, who seemed uninterested whilst Jose was boss and a lot of players might expect to be leaving the club this year.

One of those players expected to leave is John Obi Mikel, who joined the club in 2006 making him the second longest serving player behind John Terry. He has always been a fringe player for the club until this season when Hiddink gave him a lot of game time.

He has been mediocre for the team at best and should Chelsea bring in changes next year, he will probably find himself falling down the pecking order.
The Sun reports that the midfielder has rejected an offer of £5.7million from Turkish side Fenerbahce, despite his contract expiring 2017. Galatasaray and Valencia are also reportedly interested and Chelsea show little sign of offering a contract extension which should mean the player will be off at the end of the season. Everyone now is looking to who Conte might bring in.
