Manchester United eyeing swoop for 27-goal international striker

With the summer transfer period approaching, many clubs are set out to buy strikers and Manchester United is no exception. Whenever the transfer window opens they are the club most linked with players. But often they get the player they want. But this time they may have the man they want.

The Red Devils has arguably lost the reputation for goal scoring strikers with Wayne Rooney dropping to midfield, Van Persie being sold and Marcus Rashford being a novice kid. Martial stands out as the only exception but surely now United needs more reinforcements.

They need an experienced head in the position who can control the situations and finish the chances off. Missed chances have been one their biggest problems. That’s where Mario Gomez comes in.

Rumors (via Football-Talk) suggest that United is now after Mario Gomez, the Besiktas forward, who has always impressed in front of goal wherever he has been. And also, the 27 year old German forward is being chased by the likes of Wolfsberg and Besiktas wants to make his loan deal permanent as well.

The 6 feet 2 inch forward should add more height to the United squad, something the Dutchman Van Gaal prefers in his squad. Also, he can be a good target man when it comes to finishing balls inside the box.

Will the Red Devils finally end their drought of a proper number #9 with the signing of Mario Gomez? Only time shall tell.
