£40m Bid ACCEPTED, Chelsea To Complete John Stones Signing As Everton Finds Replacement

River Plate central defender, Ramino Funes Mori was spotted in the stands on Sunday as Everton took on League leaders Manchester City at Goodison Park.

The River Plate defender had been linked to Everton this summer as a potential replacement for supposedly Chelsea bound John Stones. His presence in the stands shows that talks are already at an advanced stage with a deal most likely. Various media sourced reported that the Argentine had undergone a medical and is closing on a move to the blue side of Merseyside.

According to reports from the Guardian, the deal expected to bring the Argentine international to Goodison Park is about £6 million. This is coming three days after news emerged that Everton have accepted  £40 million bid from Chelsea for John Stones.

The 24-year old who has one senior international cap for Argentina enjoyed a successful campaign last term as he led River Plate to the Copa Libertadores title and even scoring in the final against Mexican league side Tigres in 3-0 victory.

The potential capture of Funes Mori has added fuel to the speculation linking wanted central defender, John Stones with a £30 million move to Stamford Bridge.

Everton boss, Roberto Martinez is quoted as saying ” the situation is exactly the same” when speaking about Stones prior to the Manchester City game according to the Guardian.

If this deal is confirmed, Funes Mori would become the second central defender to move to the Toffees this summer after the arrival of 19-year old Mason Holgate from Barnsley.
