Arsenal Edging Closer To £150,000-A-Week Defensive Midfielder Signing

Arsenal seem to be edging closer to landing long term target Sami Khedira. According to various reportsin the English and Spanish media, Khedira is hopeful of finally sealing his switch to long term admirers Arsenal.

Arsenal were keen on him in the summer though Wenger dispelled the rumours of the link but as we all know there is no smoke without fire. There is a reason why it is was continuously in the media that Arsenal were interested in the German midfielder. Then, though Real were willing to sell, reports had it that Arsenal couldn’t agree personal terms with him, hence, they missed out on his signing in the summer.

Now that his contract is fast winding down as he is the final year of his contract and rejected Real’s latest offer of an extension, Los Blancos are keen to cash in on him in the winter window rather than risk loosing him for free in the summer.

According to the reports now, Arsenal have remedied their mistakes of the summer by putting the horse before the cart by firstly, agreeing personal terms with the German midfielder before approaching Real Madrid to negotiate a fee. It seems the Gunners have already agreed personal terms with Khedira and are now ready to approach real to discuss a fee for the World Cup winner with the aim of landing him in the winter window.

At this stage, it seems all interests are perfectly aligned. Khedira wants to leave Real Madrid and Arsenal are his preferred destination. Arsenal are in dire need of a defensive midfielder even though Khedira is not a defensive midfielder, his presence would still go a long way in adding the much needed steel to the Gunners’ midfield.

With his contract running out in the summer, he is certainly available for a knockdown fee and it seems Real are willing to accept a fee in the region of 12million Pounds. That is a far cry from the huge amount Sporting Lisbon are demanding for top target William Cavarlho.
