The English FA cup holders are set to make a shock move for German 20-year-old midfielder Leon Goretzka. The Gunners rival Southampton are understood to be interested in landing the starlet too.
The Saints are keen on replacing Morgan schneiderlin who opted for a move to the Red Devils. Koeman who has been a long term admirer of the Schalke’s player, is reportedly preparing a bid of around £12m in order to lure him to England.
With the array of German stars at Arsenal, the creative midfielder would favor a move to Arsenal over their counterpart Southampton
However, news emerging from the German media has credited the following statement to Schalke’s general manager Horst Heldt: “we do not have the intention to sell Leon, Leon Goertzka is under contract at our club.”
The 20-year-old midfielder who is very talented and highly rated was named in the preliminary 30-man squad for Germany in the world cup of last summer. Although, his development was impeded by injury last season, he managed to make only 10 appearances for his club.
The boss of the Emirates giants who is known to have transformed many young talents into superstars is keen on whisking away the very talented creative and versatile midfielder but is wary of the starlet’s injury record.
With serious interest from Southampton, Arsenal may be forced to offer a deal for the player whose valuation is around £12m-£15m.
