Chelsea On The VERGE Of Signing €49m Manchester United Target

The summer transfer window might have ended in a bad fashion for Chelsea as they failed to land their two key primary targets but as it stands, the Blues are prepared to put such unfortunate incidents behind them as they have already started plotting purchases for the January transfer window. The Blues are reportedly looking to bring in Valencia’s defender Jose Gaya to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.

It is understood that Chelsea have been linked to the Spanish defender for a long time now and are ready to step up interest in the 20 year old defender. According to reports from Spanish newspaper Sport, Chelsea owner Roman Abrahomivich has given Chelsea the green light to pursue the transfer of Jose Gaya to Chelsea after an horrendous start to the season by Chelsea.

This horrendous start to the season has put Chelsea in a difficult position to defend their title, as the Blues are 11 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City. As expected, defenders will be Jose Mourinho’s priority in the January transfer window, having already conceded 12 goals this season, higher than any Premier League team this season.

Nevertheless, Jose Gaya who is regarded as one of the brightest talents in Spain presently will be an excellent addition to the squad as well as being a long term replacement to John Terry. The 20 year old was an integral and functional part of the Valencia team that qualified for the Champions League. However, Jose Gaya will not come cheap to Chelsea, the Spaniard extended his contract with Valencia to a five year deal which leaves his release clause standing at a sum of €49 million.
