Chelsea Plan Bid For £80,000-A-Week World Cup Star

Reports emerging from the media are to the effect that the current EPL champions, Chelsea have found Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic as the right man to replace Arsenal-bound Petr Cech.

According to the Daily Mail, the Cech to Arsenal deal is done, leaving the Blues with no option but to find a replacement for the long-serving goalkeeper before the current window comes to a close. Begovic is seen by management of the club as the new number two to Thibaut Courtois.

Chelsea’s interest in the former Portsmouth goalkeeper is based on the fact that he remains one of the most consistent safe pair of gloves in the league. The goalkeeper was heavily linked with a move to a top-four club over the last few summers; a move that never materialised.

It is not known at this time if Begovic fancies a summer move to Stanford Bridge, considering the fact that he will not get a chance to break into the first team; at least not in the next season. His chances of getting a first-team shirt heavily depends on a couple of factors, including injury to Courtois or loss of form. However, the prospect of winning titles and earning bigger wages could be two major reasons for him to make the move. Chelsea offers him a better opportunity of winning titles than his current club, Stoke City.

Begovic is seen as a homegrown talent due to the fact that he came to England at a very young age, which of course, is a big bonus for Chelsea.
