Chelsea To Announce Emergency Signing This Week, Medical Done

As per popular sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea are on the verge of completing a deal for 33 year old Marco Amelia. Di Marzio took to his twitter account to share the message claiming that the Italian was scheduled for a medical at the club with the signing of his contract expected to follow afterwards. He tweeted “Medicals tomorrow for @AmeliaGoalie (former @acmilan goalkeeper) with @ChelseaFC: then he’ll sign the contract till the end of the season’.

The Blues are limited in their goalkeeping options for the season after selling Petrc Cech earlier in the summer to Arsenal and the unfortunate lengthy injury befallen to Thibaut Courtois.

Marco Amelia is expected to serve as a cover up for Asmir Begovic till the end of the season. It is understood that the 33 year old was invited to join Chelsea on trial having been contacted by Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho. For many Chelsea fans who are still unsure about what Amelia will bring to the table at Chelsea, the 33 year old has a vast amount of experience to offer the Blues having played for eight different clubs including AC Milan. The 33 year old was also a World Cup winner with the Italian squad in 2006 and a Bronze medal winner with the Olympic team in 2004. The addition of the 33 year old could be seen as a panic move but nevertheless if its purpose is served it could turn out to be a useful buy.
