Confirmed – Spaniard Will Start For Liverpool Against West Brom

Liverpool left back, Alberto Moreno is on cause to start against West Brom on Saturday, as being reported by Talksport, during an interview with James Pearce of “Liverpool Echo” with Sakho injured and Jose Enrique starting against Basel, while Moreno was benched. It came as a surprise to see Moreno being benched but it has to be assumed that Rodgers decided on rotating his squad. It is hoped that he will replicate the form he was on when he scored his stunner of a goal against Tottenham.

The 22 year old was signed in the summer from Spanish side Sevillla for a fee believed to be €12 million, amassing  45 appearances and scoring 3 goals during his spell with them. He has made 5 appearances for Liverpool with his debut against Man City. Apart from his stutter against Man City when he lost concentration, allowing Stefan Jovetic to ghost past him and tuck one in the net, his performances so far have given Kop faithful reason to cheer. This is despite the fact that he has had to adjust to life in England, and he does appear to have settled down quickly.

However, he still has to come to terms with the demands of the premier league and up his game. Given his young age, there is all likelihood that he can grow to make the left back his permanent position in the squad but he has to impress more to ensure he has a steady run in lining up every match day as competition within the team is much, with Enrique also keen on nor being dropped and accruing enough playing time to ensure a call up from Vincente del Bosque.

Interestingly, Moreno also is vying for a place in the Spanish team and was included in the 30 man provisional list for the world cup tournament that held in Brazil, though dropped eventually. This is a huge indicator of the high regard he is held in, and if he gets his acts right will soon be lining up with his Spanish teammates in internationals.

Therefore he must, I repeat must strive to make himself a club and country hero. Playing in the premier league will do wonders for his career and turning out for Liverpool is certainly no small deal as they are a big team in England and were once a team to reckon with in Europe. Having a manager like Brendan Rodgers who believes in youth and helps mold them is also an advantage and he should look to learn and develop himself under his manager’s tutelage. This is why he must address his brief lack of concentration in his game. The fact that he suffers brief lapses in concentration could be detrimental as was evident in the man city match and such must be cut out of his game.

But first, he must produce series of eye catching performances to nail down his position in the team, and tomorrow’s match against West Brom is the best platform for him to pick up from where he dropped off.
