David De Gea Set For Return Against Liverpool

It is of no surprise that Manchester United fans all over the globe are extremely delighted that David De Gea is still a Manchester United player but United supporters who want De Gea shipped back into the side immediately might have to hold their breath till the last minute, as Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal contemplates drafting the Spaniard back into the United team that faces Liverpool on Saturday.

According to reports, the Dutch manager will delay his decision on which goalkeeper to select for United’s highly anticipated match against Liverpool  until their last training session. The 24 year old is highly favoured to make his return to the side this weekend after Sergio Romero’s disappointing performance against Swansea City. Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea was heavily linked with a move to Madrid in the just concluded transfer window and after much speculations, the move was expected to be finalised on deadline day but was foiled by a delay in paperwork submission.

David De Gea is yet to feature for Manchester United this season since playing against Paris St Germain in United’s pre-season tour.  With the 24 year old constantly being linked to Real Madrid, Louis Van Gaal felt it was right not to play the David De Gea, as he felt the 24 year old was distracted by Real Madrid’s interest in him. Nevertheless, with the Madrid spotlight closed for now, the 24 year old will be looking to get back to his best and regain his rightful position in between the United sticks.

Even if the Spaniard does not get thrown back into the starting 11 this weekend, it definitely would not take long for the 24 year old to return to the first team as Louis Van Gaal will find it difficult to keep the United Player of the Season who was instrumental in their top 4 finish last year out of the side.
