Arsenal has confirmed the club’s female team has completed the signing of two new players. According to an official statement from the club, Arsenal ladies will have in their rank the Dutch duo of Dominique Janssen and Sari Van Veenendaal once the season starts.
Janssen, 20, is a powerful defender who is highly rated in his home country. He is joining Arsenal after a highly successful two years stint with German side Frauen Bundesliga club SGS Essen.
Veenendaal on the other hand is a reliable shotstopper, he is joining Arsenal from FC Twente having won the Dutch league four times in the last five years.
Both players play for the Netherlands female team at the just concluded FIFA female world cup. They helped their country reach the last 16 of the world cup in Canada.
Speaking about the two new players, Arsenal ladies’ manager Pedro Martinez Losa was quoted to have said; “We are very pleased to welcome two excellent new players to our squad. Sari is a fantastic young keeper with lots of international experience. She has a great attitude, she is a winner and she will provide good competition for the number one jersey here at Arsenal. Dominique is a strong player with good technical attributes and a good character. She is a versatile player and will be able to help the team in a lot of different areas.”
