A verbal agreement between Wolves and Arsena’s third choice goal keeper Emiliano Martinez has been reached. He has agreed personal terms with championship side in a deal that will see loaned out of North London for a season.
Wolves official twitter account tweeted the news and confirmed that the deal will be completed as soon as possible.
“Jackett has also confirmed that Wolves have a verbal agreement with arsenal for the loan of Emiliano Martinez. Hopefully completed today.”
The 22-year-old international made a scanty eight appearances for the Gunners including just four in the Premier League. He spent the a few part of last season on loan with Rotherham.
As reported by the BBC, Emiliano is expected to make the squad for Wolves match against Newport County in their League Cup first round tie. Should the deal pull through as expected.
Following the signing of Petr Cech and the presence of David Ospina, Martinez may not get to feature even in the Gunners cup games as he has become surplus to requirement. Arsene Wenger feels a loan move will improve the keeper as he is expected to get more playing time outside the Emirates.
