“He Reminds Me Of Karim Benzema” High Rated Star To Join Man United For £8.5m
Twenty-time Premier League champions Manchester United are readying a raid on Dinamo Zagreb for their highly-rated winger Marko Pjaca, according to Corriere dello Sport. The Red Devils Louis van Gaal boss has stated his desire to bring in a new winger to the squad, with the Dutchman crying out for lack of pace in the team.
After the sale of Angel Di Maria over the summer, van Gaal claimed the club would look to sign a pacey winger – albeit Memphis Depay had already joined. And United ended up signing French teenager Anthony Martial on transfer deadline day. Meanwhile, only Martial has been superb for the Red Devils and Depay has struggled to find his feet in the Premier League. This has prompted van Gaal to launch an interest in bringing in another winger to the squad.
As per the aforementioned source, United are responding to van Gaal’s demand by lining up a January move for 20-year old Pjaca. The Croatian ace would command a fee of up to £8.5m, which will be no problem for Manchester United – who are on course to be the richest club in the world, as per the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
Pjaca has been likened to Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema by Tomislav Ivkovic, who coached the youngster when he was still a tyro. “He is one of the rare players who can go both directions,” Ivkovic said. “If there’s anyone he reminds me of when he’s on the ball, it’s Karim Benzema. I’m not saying he’s the new Benzema but he reminds me of him in one-on-one situations.”
