Isco moving to Arsenal – latest insider report

Real Madrid midfielder Isco has expressed his desire to leave the club because of the lack of first team opportunity under Rafael Benitez. The 23 year old has started in only 9 in a total of 30 matches played by Madrid so far this season. The last time he made an appearance was against Sevilla in November. The growing frustration has made him willing to part ways with the club and Arsenal has been deemed as his next stop. However, the Gunners might not make a bid for him provided they already have a talented pool of midfielders.

Isco possesses good anticipation skills, and a keen eye for goal, which enables him to make long-range assists. He also has the ability to predict opponents’ move which helps him get away in sneaky situations. However, Arsenal already has the likes of Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil for this role and when it comes to making forward runs, there is no player better than Sanchez for Arsenal at the moment.

The Gunners may have been linked to the Isco because of injuries to Cazorla and Sanchez but with the latter returning sooner than expected, Wenger might not make the plunge for Madrid’s star who comes at a price tag of £28.9million.

Another player that has grown into the central role is Aaron Ramsey. The 24 year old has recently returned into the line-up following an injury to Cazorla and Francis Coquelin and has started playing a deeper role as a central midfield. His performance against Aston Villa last weekend had been remarkable as he also bagged a goal for himself. From midfield to making runs into the box, the Welsh international played as a complete midfielder making crucial tackles and winning possession back.

On his performance against Villa he has been reported in the Daily Mirror, saying, “I’m really enjoying it, that’s where I feel I play my best football and can have an effect on the game. I’ve scored a couple and had a couple of assists as well in the three games I’ve played there. So I’m delighted with the way things are going in there, hopefully I can continue to do well there.”

Ramsey has two goals and two assists in just three games he has started for Arsenal. With Ramsey doing well, and Sanchez returning soon, Arsenal’s injury woes don’t call for a midfield signing this January.

Regardless of an interest from the Gunners, Isco might leave Madrid as Premier League clubs, Chelsea and Manchester City, have also been rumoured to show interest in signing him this transfer window.  Arsenal might not have a place for him but these two English clubs might be able to lure him out Spain with a promise of first team action.
