In the footballing gossip circles, one rumor has been doing the rounds more than any other in recent weeks. Strangely enough, that rumor doesn’t even involve a player this time as all the papers discuss who might or might not be in charge of Manchester United next season.
One name seems to be mentioned more than any other; the Portuguese ‘Special One’ Jose Mourinho. He is a serial winner and collected trophies in different leagues across Europe.
With Pep Guardiola set to make Manchester City a whole lot stronger next term and Conte coming in at Chelsea to make them competitive, Manchester United might need Jose to add a winning mentality to Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho left Stamford Bridge earlier this year in unceremonious fashion, as the players seemingly revolted and the team crashed towards the relegation zone, rather than the Champions League places where the fans expected them to be. He couldn’t turn things around in time and Guus Hiddink came in to replace him at the helm.
Jose hasn’t worked since then but close sources have revealed he has had several lucrative offers. Friends have said that there is only one job around that he is after; that’s the Manchester United hot-seat and the Express think he will have it with 2 weeks.
It might be currently taken by Louis Van Gaal who has hit a little bit of form towards the end of the year and could possibly take home the FA Cup still, but will it be enough to secure another term? Most think no as the club sit in 5th position and could miss out on Champions League football again this year.
Is Mourinho the man to get Manchester United competitive again? He would certainly bring some excitement to the league!
