Red Star Belgrade midfielder, Marko Grujic is currently being monitored by Manchester United who are interested in luring the teenage prodigy to the Theatre of dreams soon. The Red Devils sent a scout to watch him in action during the local Derby against against FK Rad Beograd last Saturday.
The young Serb got the first goal of the day through a shot as Crvena Zvezda defeated local rivals 3 goals to nil. The performances of the 19 year-old has already seen him draw comparison with fellow countryman, Nemanja Matic. Grujic caught the eyes of top clubs during the Under-20 World Cup earlier this year.
United will be facing stiff competition from bitter rivals, Chelsea for the signature of the player. The Blues have also had the teenager on their radar for a while, and they stand at an advantage in their pursuit as a result of the strong ties they have with Red Star which allow a handful of Chelsea youth players come over for a loan. The club also parade a couple of promising youngsters in their side, and will be ready to do business with United if they are ready to offer around 3million Pounds for the player’s services.
The Red Devils are planning on strengthening their midfield and a young player is a target, as the duo of Michael Carrick and Bastian Schweinsteiger are already in their 30’s and won’t have much to offer in the long-term. Marko Grujic quality is in the mould of the defensive midfield duo, and will serve a worthy future replacement for both.
