nolito to arsenal

Nolito refused contract extension and is moving to Arsenal in January

Arsenal has improved immensely when it comes to its defence and midfield, but has always seemed to struggle in achieving consistency within its attack. Theo Walcott has returned and Olivier Giroud appears to be in-form since the last three games, but in his 3 years the Frenchman has found it difficult to be the top quality striker, Arsenal needs in crucial times. Which is why Arsenal has been linked to buying Celta Vigo striker Nolito, this winter transfer window.

Nolito is a former Barcelona player who made his debut for Celta Vigo in 2013. He scored 14 goals in his first season which got him his international debut in 2014 for Spain.  He scored his 35th goal for Celta Vigo against Sporting Gijon in November. The player has a release clause of £13m which makes him an ideal choice by Wenger’s bargaining preference in the market.

The 29 year old striker might not be the top quality striker fans are hoping for, but will provide a choice which Arsenal is often barred from due to unexpected injuries.  The Spaniard offers versatility as he can play both as a striker and a left winger. Bringing him to the club would be a wise addition as a lack of competition also leads to complacency from Walcott and Giroud.

Nolito refused to sign a contract extension last month and stated that it is because of a disagreement about a certain detail. His former club Barcelona has also been rumoured to be interested in him but personally Nolito hasn’t received any offers.

As reported in the Daily Mail, Nolito said, “If someday I’m wanted by a team, [they can] come speak with Celta and pay what you have to pay. No more [on this matter]. I want to be quiet. No one has called me, or, to my knowledge, Celta either.”
Although there have been no concrete reports on a sure agreement between Arsenal and Celta Vigo, but it is said that he might be one of the possible January signings for Arsenal.
