Not Benzema, Not Cavani – Arsenal Table £32m Bid For Chelsea Striker Target

As expected, the Gunners are making one last ditch effort in a bid to securing the services of an attacker. This morning, the Daily star is claiming that Inter Milan have rejected Arsenal’s bid for one of their forwards Mauro Icardi.

Earlier in the summer, Wenger made karim Benzema his prime target for the centre forward position but the deal collapsed and made Wenger switched attention to other targets.

However, the Daily star are claiming that the Gunners strange target Mauro Icardi is valued at €44 million (£32) – the reports claims, though unspecified, Inter rejected the Gunners bid for the player as it was deemed too small for the player.

The Newspaper credited Emanuele Giulianelli as their source when he tweeted the following:

What has gone on behind the scene after Benzema deal went off: Arsenal showed interest in Mauro Icardi but Inter refused to sell him.

Wenger meeting with his team this evening to discuss how Arsenal are going to go about the last few days of the transfer window.

“Of course I meant Wenger and his staff. Arsene will have the final word on the possible arrivals.”

Icardi signed a four-year contract extension with Inter Milan in June this year and Inter have told Arsenal they are unwillingly to let their forward leave.

The Gunners dealing at the closing stages of the transfer window might make or mar their season as it is expected that a top-notch forward is added to the rank if Arsenal.
