Phil Jones Replacement? Manchester United To Announce Signing Of £38m Powerful DM

Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona are actively scouting John Stones and established pundits around Europe are saying he has the quality to play with these top teams. The bar is already high after Chelsea’s continuous attempts to sign the young Englishman topped out at £38m last summer. According to reports, Manchester United are very close to grabbing his signature ahead of the chasing pack.

As much as Martinez would love to keep Stones at the side, a bidding war would greatly benefit the Toffees as it will bring in a great financial influx. Recent reports claim that Chelsea would be looking to bid for Stones again in the January transfer window, but they are expected to have increased competition for the player’s signature. The Blues made four attempts to sign Stones but they all failed.

Stones even put in a transfer request in order to force a move to Stamford Bridge but Roberto Martinez’s side rejected a fourth bid for the defender. The Toffees later defeated Chelsea at Goodison Park 3-0 with Stones putting in a solid defensive cover much to the pleasure of the Everton fans and to the dismay of the Chelsea supporters.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have been told to pay £45 Million for John Stones. The race is now a Three Horse race for the player’s signature. United seem like the front runners for his signature as they will be looking towards him to replace Phil Jones in the side.
