Sergio Ramos Won’t Be Joining Manchester United Claims Player’s Mother
Despite reports stating that Sergio Ramos is set to quit Real Madrid for Manchester United, Sergio Ramos’s mother Paqui Garcia has said her son won’t be leaving for Manchester United. This news would have been greeted with trepidation by United fans. Sergio Ramos who was earlier reported to be unsettled and has asked to leave Real Madrid by some media houses has been the subject of enquiries by the Manchester club. Latest reports state that Man Utd have just offered Real Madrid £42.1 million and there is a common consensus that the bid will be rejected. Feelers state that Real Madrid are holding out for a £65 million fee.
With their defensive frailties during the season, United rued their failure to win the title, though they were able to finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League. However, Man Utd need a world class defender who would be a leader and who will be able to effectively herald the backline. In Sergio Ramos, United will be getting the complete package. With a world cup medal under his belt, alongside a champion’s league medal and 3 la liga titles, Ramos is the consummate professional, who has seen and done it all. His experience will stand him in good stead in the team and his presence in the starting squad should see the likes of Smalling, Rojo et al all gel to form a formative defence with which Man United will hope to wrestle the title from Chelsea.
However, United cannot afford not to sign Ramos as the transfer market closure looms closer. With Madrid also interested in United’s goalkeeper De Gea, you would be forgiven for asking why both clubs have not yet struck a deal that would see both players exchange clubs. A failure to sign Ramos might see United flounder in their premier league title ambition and worse in their champions league campaign where the likelihood of United’s defence being carved open and punished mercilessly is high. And this is why Van Gaal need to shore up his defence with experience.
United need to sign Ramos now, and they should be relentless in their pursuit of the Madrid star. However paying Real Madrid a huge amount for a player who is 29 and has just a few years left in his tank will be a wanton waste of funds. In light of this, United will surely be looking for a quick gap stop solution and this is why Ramos is a must sign for the club.
