Star Flies In For Medical, To COMPLETE £17.7m Move To Chelsea Tomorrow
Ghanaian Full Back Abdul Baba Rahman is set to have a medical at Chelsea ahead of his proposed £17.7million pounds move to Chelsea. The Augsburg left-back who has attracted interest from the likes of PSG , Juventus and Roma is expected to fly to London in coming days to undergo a medical and finalise his move to Chelsea. Chelsea are reported to have agreed a fee of 17.7 million pounds with Augsburg over the transfer of the 21 year old which is a little over what Chelsea paid for Brazilian defender Filipe Luis last year.
It is no doubt that Baba Rahman will be a replacement for Filipe Luis who re-joined his former team Atletico Madrid for an undisclosed fee. The Brazilian struggled to feature regularly due to the presence of Cesar Azpilicueta who relegated him to few first team opportunities. Mourinho was said to have preferred Azpilicueta over Luis due to his strong defensive and offensive contributions unlike Luis whose defensive efforts were not as good as his offensive efforts.
Baba Rahman would be hoping to challenge Cesar Azpilicueta for the position of first choice left-back. The 21 year old has made quite a name for himself at Augsburg with impressive performances in the last few months. The Ghanaian full-back has established himself in Germany as a good tackler of the ball as well as a strong aerial presence. Rahman can cross the ball extremely well which will benefit Chelsea who have strong headers of the ball in the team. Chelsea are expected to complete this transfer before the new EPL season kicks off.
