Manchester United made an offer for Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia and have move closer to signing the Argentine after the player expressed a doubt over his future at the Serie A side.
This is according to Metro who claim Louis van Gaal’s side submitted a bid of around £17.6m for Biglia – who still has three years left on his contract at the Rome-based side.
Biglia joined Lazio in 2013 and was recently installed as the Biancocelesti skipper for the 2015/16 upcoming campaign, following Stefano Mauri’s departure. Despite that, he still somehow thinks he could leave the Stadio Olimpico.
“Will I definitely stay now that I have the armband? I don’t know,” the Argentinian midfielder told reporters.
“The truth is that it doesn’t depend on me. For now, though, I’m thinking only of the game tomorrow.”
This news of Biglia’s move to United is coming as a surprise as the Red Devils are already blessed with players of similar qualities and style to Biglia’s in the team.
Louis van Gaal has Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, Ander Herrera and Daley Blind all in his ranks, hence, the addition of the 29-year old ex-Anderlecht ace will be utterly useless.
