Man Utd ready to seal transfer for world’s best defensive midfielder

The Manchester United transfer gossip is heating up and the latest player to be linked with a move to Old Trafford is Barcelona midfield maestro Sergio Busquets. Busquets is reportedly refusing to sign a new contract after demanding a pay-rise and not getting one. Spanish news Outlet, Marca, reckon that Barcelona would rather cash in on the player than let him leave for free when his contract expires.

This has put a host of teams on alert with Manchester United being joined by Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain in the chase for the defensive midfielder. Manchester United would meet his contract demands if they were given the chance to sign him but other teams would have to keep FIFA Financial Fair Play rules in mind when offering stellar contracts.

Manchester United have offered big contracts in the past and the rumors regarding their strategy suggests that they want to buy some big players to become competitive again.

Is he the best player in the world in his position? He has certainly had an extremely successful career at Barcelona with a bigger trophy haul over the past decade. He won 5 La Liga’s, 3 Champions League’s, 3 Copa Del Rey’s, 3 Uefa Super Cup’s, 3 Club World Cup’s and a FIFA World Cup with Spain.
Yes, he has been surrounded by truly world class players, but he must have done something to stay in those teams. Would he fit Manchester United’s style of play? Would he oust Schneiderlin and Carrick? Would he link up well with any attacking players United plan to bring in?
