£70m striker will be sold this summer claims club legend, Man Utd or Chelsea his new club?
Argentina football God Diego Maradona thinks Gonzalo Higuain will move on from Napoli this summer. The 28 year old striker, who has so far scored an impressive 30 goals in 32 Serie A appearances for Napoli, has been linked to a move to English clubs in recent times.
It is reported that both Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in signing him, after Arsenal pulled out recently. Maradona, who himself is a natural goal scorer back in his days, expects his fellow Argentine to move on from Napoli and seek a new challenge.
He claims the club’s president, Auerlio De Laurentiis, is keen to cash in on his prized asset, currently valued at around £70m. In an interview with the Italian Piuenne TV, he said, “I know De Laurentiis, and I think he will sell Higuain.”
“[Higuain] gave his best to Napoli, I don’t think he can repeat this kind of form. We already saw it happen with [Ezequiel] Lavezzi. With all the money he will earn, he will have to build a great team.”
Maradona, who has been watching the English Premier League recently, also mentioned that the current Premier League’s top scorer, Harry Kane, is a more than capable replacement for Higuain.
“It’s not easy to replace Higuain, if it was up to me, I would choose Tottenham’s [Harry] Kane,” he added. “I don’t know how much he costs, but I would sign him.”
