Manchester United are chasing Brazilian Winger Felipe Anderson in an attempt to revamp their squad. The United squad has often looked unbalanced and players have had to be played out of position.
The Brazilian winger has had a fruitful campaign as he managed to score nine times in 45 appearances in all competitions for the Italian side. He is under contract with Lazio till 2020 and the Italian side will be looking to hold their man down to his commitments. United will have to pay big if they want a deal to go through.
Sources suggest that the Red Devils are ready to launch a bid worth up to £39m for Anderson. However. Agent and sister of Felipe Anderson has insisted that Manchester United target Felipe Anderson is going nowhere.
“My brother won’t be leaving Rome during next summer,” Juliana Gomes stated.
Van Gaal has often claimed that he is looking to inject “speed and creativity” into his sides hence his purchases of Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial. Felipe Anderson is a player that falls into that category. Manchester United will be hoping their pursuit is not in vain as Lazio are not keen on letting their star player leave.
Should it be that the move does not materialize, the Red Devils have other transfer targets that can do the job such as Benfica’s Renato Sanches who is expected to complete a deal before the Euros; Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann who has been heavily linked in recent weeks and Paris Saint-Germain’s Zlatan Ibrahimović who is set to leave France and experience the Premier league.
United have realized the importance of strengthening in the summer and appear to be acting quickly to secure their targets. Is Felipe Anderson worth the big transfer? It would be interesting to see where he fits in and if he can add the additional firepower United have been lacking in recent seasons.
