Arsenal Open Talks With £285,000-A-Week Duo, A World Cup Winner & UCL Winner Could Sign Arsenal Contract Ahead Of January Window

Arsenal boss, Arsène Wenger, has revealed that the club will start negotiations for new contracts with star performers Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez early next year, as per Goal. Ozil and Sanchez’ contracts are expected to run out in 2018 but Wenger is eager for the attacking duo to sign contract extensions.

Arsenal have previously lost the likes of Samir Nasri and Robin van Persie who were in the last year of their respective contracts, but Wenger is determined to retain the services of Ozil and Alexis, both of whom have been in emphatic form this season.

Wenger said: “We have not started to talk about that with Mesut Ozil. With Sanchez it is the same situation. We will start the negotiations at some stage but at this point we have not started. From the New Year to the summer we will certainly start it with all the players who have two years to go at the end of the season. At the end of the year they have two and a half years on their contracts and we have some time. We are not in a hurry and we of course want them to stay.

Ozil, who joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013, has been in top form for Arsenal in recent weeks, with the former Madrid player registering an average pass accuracy of 88% in the top flight this season.

Alexis Sanchez seems to be somewhat of a catalyst of change at Arsenal. His arrival at the club last season gave Arsenal high hopes for the Premier League title, and this season Arsenal look like strong contenders as they sit at 2nd on the table.
