Jose Mourinho looks further away from the United job as the Red Devils remain distant to confirming a move. It appears Manchester United are willing to give Louis Van Gaal a chance to prove his worth in the remaining weeks.
The Dutch manager has been told to reach top 4 and he can expect to see himself at Old Trafford next season. Manchester United are in a good run of form and obtained a good point from title chasing Leicester City.
The Red Devils sit right below noisy neighbours Manchester City. Obviously they don’t like the scene, yet what will be better is tipping off their fierce rivals for top 4. What seems to work in United’s favour is that they are only 4 points adrift after City lost 4-2 to a merciless Southampton side.
United still have a game in hand and more so City face Arsenal this weekend after a trip to Spain in midweek. It seems there is some hope for United fans to hold onto and better yet for Louis Van Gaal who will keep his job. This could also be bad news for Mourinho who will remain jobless.
The Dutch manager has a single year remaining on his current deal. This has given him all the confidence he requires. Louis Van Gaal remains certain that the United board are backing him. He had the following to say. “I wanted to sign only for two years,” he said.
“The club wanted me to sign for three years, not me. I signed for three years, so next year you will see me again.”
Some fans will not be pleased to hear this as the chance to sign Mourinho might not still be available next season. Mourinho is a great tactician of the game and is still highly regarded as one of the best in the industry. Will United pass up on this opportunity?
