Pedro & Baba To Start – Chelsea’s Strong Squad For WBA

A whole lot of ardent Chelsea supporters would love to hear this! The Blues boss Jose Mourinho is set to give Pedro his debut and drop Ramires in today’s crucial clash against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns, says the Guardian.

Pedro joined Chelsea from Barcelona last Thursday for a reported £21.7m transfer fee after spending the entirety of his career at the Camp Nou. The Spain winger had been touted for a move to Manchester United before an Jose Mourinho-led tactic helped the west London club sign the player.

Due to the Blues’ sluggish start to the season, Pedro – who only started training with his new team-mates on Thursday will be thrown into the fray from the start, and Ramires is expected to make way for the pacey attacker.

Although the La Liga season only begun yesterday, Pedro should have a considerable level of match fitness as he featured for Barcelona in the UEFA Super Cup clash against Sevilla in Tbilisi on August 11, and also in the two-legged ties of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Bilbao.

So, Pedro – whom Jose Mourinho described as “one of the best attacking players in the world” will be given the nod by his new boss, as the Portuguese has stated he is unhappy with the performances of about seven of his players so far, and also his own performance as a manager. The Blues will be looking to snap out of their worst start to a Premier League campaign since 1998 with a resounding victory against West Bromwich Albion.

Mourinho also confirmed Thibaut Courtois will be in goal after serving his one-match suspension, following a red card against Swansea in the first league game of the season.

Asmir Begovic, albeit he conceded three goals against Manchester City performed admirably in the Belgian’s absence, notable among his performances in the game was three goal-bound efforts from Sergio Aguero in the first half.

New boy Baba Rahman should also be named among the substitutes, and captain John Terry who was substituted for tactical reason, as per Mourinho, against the Citizens is expected to keep his place against Tony Pulis’ side ahead of Kurt Zouma. Meanwhile, both Terry and Zouma could even be paired as the Portuguese boss has been experimenting different formations in attack and defence in training.

Oscar and Victor Moses also remain out of the team with injuries
