Zinedine Zidane Confirms: Real Madrid Star Moving to Anfield, Deal to Be Done Today

Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev has been linked with a move to Liverpool, amid reports that he is likely to leave the Spanish giants before the end of the January transfer window.

According to Spanish journalist Paco Gonzalez, the Russian winger is likely to sign for a Premier League club on Monday, and it could be Liverpool.

The 25-year-old winger was first linked with a loan move to Liverpool in April 2015, and it seems the Merseyside club are willing to open talks to bring the winger at Anfield as the transfer window approaches closure.

The 25-year-old Russian international has played 117 minutes of first-team football this term, so he will be a good asset for the Reds as JĂĽrgen Klopp is still looking forward to bring potential reinforcement for his attacking line.

Cheryshev spend the 2014/15 season on loan with Villarreal, and the Castellon side were believed to have interest in making the deal permanent but Villarreal president Fernando Roig considered the deal “impossible”.

Despite featuring in more than 6 games, the player has not featured in the Real Madrid’s last 7 La Liga outings.

His fortune at Bernabeu has not changed after the dismissal of Rafa Benitez, as he continues to miss more play time under new boss Zinedine Zidane.

After Sunday’s match against Espanyol (6-0), Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane confirmed that Cheryshev is on his way out of the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Yes, we are going to see tomorrow but I think that he could still leave. The important thing for him is to have playing time. He is a great player, he needs time and I wish him the best. If he has the chance to leave and play, then I am delighted for him. We will see tomorrow.”

Cheryshev is most comfortable playing on the left wing, hence he is able to operate in any position along the attacking line and his delivery from the flanks is more of an asset to his style of play.

During his loan spell and Villarreal, the Russian international managed to score 7 goals and making a further 10 assists in 40 appearances in all competitions.

With that good performance, Cheryshev proved his quality.

And with only 18 months left on his contract with Real Madrid, Liverpool are likely to complete move that will bring him to Anfiled since there has been no progress in negotiations for Alex Teixeira.
